The 2019-20 Grand Slam of Curling season has been taken out by COVID-19.

With many sports announcing the postponement or cancellation of their seasons, curling is the latest sport to take a hit.

On Friday, the final two events of the schedule – the Players’ Championship in Toronto and the Champions Cup in Olds, Alta. – were officially cancelled.

Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs won the last event, the Canadian Open in Yorkton, Sask.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Marc Kennedy, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, beat Toronto’s John Epping in the tournament final.

Team Jacobs won three consecutive Grand Slam of Curling events this season, winning the Tour Challenge and the National prior to winning in Yorkton.

Via social media, the Jacobs rink released a statement saying they respected the decision to cancel the events.
