COVID-19: Here's the situation in the Sault today

Up to 2,000 free masks available to public at several local grocery stores Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

While neither Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or Ontario Premier Doug Ford are scheduled to make official statements regarding COVID-19 matters today, Public Health Ontario states the total number of confirmed cases of the virus went up by 415 Sunday.

That number includes 192 new cases of COVID-19 plus 223 cases that “were impacted by a laboratory-to-public health reporting delay.”

The cumulative total for the province is 30,617 cases.

The province is reporting 19 deaths today, including four people between the ages of 60 and 79 and 14 people over the age of 80.

79 per cent of COVID-19 patients are recovered (24,252), while 2,426 people have died from the virus. 

Locally, the Days for Girls Face Masks group, which has sewn over 14,000 masks and donated them to local and regional health care facilities, has announced it will be on hand at several Sault grocery stores Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to hand out up to 2,000 free masks to customers who want them.
