NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF SAULT STE. MARIE
***************************
In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep people home, the Government of Ontario has extended associated emergency measures to include the closure of all outdoor recreational amenities, such as sports fields and playgrounds, effective immediately.

This new order includes the closure of all communal or shared, public or private, outdoor recreational amenities everywhere in Ontario. This includes all playgrounds, sports fields and complexes, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, off-leash dog parks, beaches, skate park and pump track, picnic areas, outdoor community gardens, park shelters, outdoor exercise equipment, disk golf course location and other outdoor recreational amenities. Green spaces in parks, trails, ravines and conservation areas that are not otherwise closed will remain open for walkthrough access, but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others.

Questions regarding these closures can be directed to Public Works at 705-759-5201 or by email at [email protected]. For the latest information pertaining to the City of Sault Ste. Marie operations visit here.
