ALGOMA FAMILY SERVICES
*************************
Statement from our Board President and CEO To all our clients, community partners, and funders:

As Bob Dylan sang, Times they are a-changin', and that they certainly are as we adapt our services as a result of the precautionary measures being taken to manage the outbreak of COVID19. We want you to know that our priority is the health and well-being of the clients we serve and our employees.

To this end, we also recognize these are challenging times, in fact unprecedented, as such we are committed to balancing the need for service continuation with that of health and safety.

While our services are not deemed as essential services, we do recognize that many who need our services see us as essential to their well-being.

At this time Algoma Family Services is still open for service, however, our capacity to provide services is limited based on the recommendations for virus transmission containment provided by Public Health. As such, we will provide all services with the exception of our Supervised Access by telephone at this time until we are also able to utilize video conference options.

The following services will be suspended until further notice:

  • All group programs
  • All community-based services such as our walk-in single session counselling service and community kitchens.
  • All school-based programs.
  • Any scheduled in-person appointments for service will now be conducted by telephone or video conference.

Please do not attend our offices for service.

If you require services during this time please call your counsellor or the office (705) 945-5050 or 1 (800) 461-2237 and arrangements will be made for a telephone service.

All our offices are being cleaned and our employees are exercising the recommended universal precautions. This is our commitment to ensure when regular service delivery is resumed, a safe environment for all.

We continue to monitor the current situation and will adapt our services as required.

Our apologies for the inconvenience our service changes may cause you, your child/youth, and also your family. Please know we are taking these precautionary measures to ensure the health and welling of our clients and employees.

Call Algoma Public Health at 705-759-5404 or 1-866-892-0172 or visit their website for information regarding COVID-19.

On behalf of Algoma Family Services, we thank you for your patience and understanding. Together we will get through this situation, and be stronger because of it. Pam Ficociello, Board President and Ali Juma, CEO
