Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Coats for Kids campaign has been cancelled.

In a release issued Saturday afternoon, the committee announced the decision to cancel the event until 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.

"While we are still as dedicated as ever to building and assisting those in need, the safety of our sponsors, attendees, and volunteers comes first during these difficult times," a statement released by the Coats for Kids committee said.

"We have been working closely with Algoma Public Health and other agencies to determine the best course of action. After careful consideration and recommendations, we faced the reality that the event would not be able to proceed this year. The meeting of all of the health and safety protocols when it came to the well-being of our participants, staff and volunteers was paramount in making this decision. We understand the impact as well as the need of this event in our community; however, the safety of all involved is imperative."
