African Caribbean Canadian Association of Northern Ontario announces new scholarship recipients

Four Sault College students are the recipients of a new scholarship in support of Black post-secondary students in the Sault Ste. Marie community, the African Caribbean Canadian Association of Northern Ontario (ACCANO) announced in a news release today.

Each student wrote an "inspiring essay demonstrating deep levels of community service as part of their submission for the scholarships," the release states.

As a result, they each receieved $500 towards their post-secondary education.

Earlier this year, the African Caribbean Canadian Association of Northern Ontario (ACCANO) announced a new scholarship program in support of Black post-secondary students in the Sault Ste. Marie community. Together with Sault College, ACCANO is excited to announce that four Sault College students have been selected as recipients of this inaugural scholarship for the winter 2022 term.

• Vimbai Muridzi

The four students will each receive $500 towards their post-secondary education. Each wrote inspiring essays demonstrating deep levels of community service as part of their submission for the scholarships.

“Sault College is grateful for the support of ACCANO with the addition of this scholarship program. These students have chosen Sault College for higher education and these scholarships will help them in achieving their post-secondary goals. Congratulations to our four recipients on this well-deserved honour,” said Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College.
