The Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Board of Directors works with and supports staff to ensure program needs are met through decision-making and advocacy for the benefit of those living with dementia in our region.
Any interested member of the public, 18 years and older, can apply. We are looking for two (2) candidates who are energetic and skilled in a variety of ways to add to an already strong team. This is a volunteer position.
Commitment:
• Meet at least 9 times a year, the 4th Thursday of every month from September to June from 5– 7 p.m. These meetings are held at the Alzheimer Society office located at 61 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. There is an option to join these meetings over Zoom if need be; therefore, access to a good internet connection is important.
• Sit on one or more committees of the Board.
• Participate in various Alzheimer Society events during the year.
• Serve at least a three-year term. Renewable for another 3 years.
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals who have experience in some of the following fields and as such can provide insight and guidance to the board.
• Interest in and passion for dementia services
• Finance and investment strategies
• Social work
• Experience as a caregiver
• Knowledge of day away programs
• Marketing/ social media/ public relations experience
• Program planning and evaluation of program
• Development of strategic plans
• Represent a diverse culture
It is understood that the qualified person would not have an undischarged bankruptcy.
