ALAN GERBER -- May the Fourth be With You! I promise, Alan truly is A FORCE OF NATURE!
He is bound to open up the "happy door" in your heart! 😉🥰✴️
A multi-instrumentalist, Alan plays piano, guitars (acoustic and electric slide), fiddle, button accordion, and is a vocalist and composer. His career spans more than 40 years and is rich in modern music history. Born in Chicago, he credits his uncle who encouraged his musical tastes and took him at a very young age to the downtown blues bars of the Windy City. At the age of 15 he won a songwriting contest that led to two original songs being recorded at the legendary Chess Studio. On the day he went in to record, the studio walls were being painted — by another recording artist - Chuck Berry!

“That was a real life lesson in the fickle nature of the music business,” Gerber says. The dichotomy was not lost on his young self - he has achieved great accolades, but most importantly, never stopped having fun.

Gerber’s show is grounded in the blues, but has Appalachian style fiddling, slide guitar and gospel boogie woogie on the piano thrown in. He is one of those infectiously happy people who will envelop you in his world and have you amazed at the rhythm that rolls out of it! You will hear songs from his brand new album, “Groundcover” as well as old favourites - if you have had the opportunity to see Alan at any of his previous shows here with Black Fly Jam, you know what I'm talking about!

Distinctive, retro-influenced roots music for fans of blues and folk. Dynamic, audience-centered live experience.
