The City’s Recreation and Culture Department would like to inform users of the John Rhodes Pool, that the facility will be closed to the public beginning June 20 for a period of three days. The closure is necessary to facilitate the pool’s floor tile replacement. It is anticipated that the big pool will re-open to swimmers on June 23 while the two smaller pools will re-open August 1, 2022. Lane swims and Aquatics will be available however, lessons, parent and child swims and public swims will be cancelled until construction is complete. Swimmers are reminded that outdoor pools including the Peter G. Manzo and V.E. Greco pools open July 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

The John Rhodes floor tile replacement project was identified through the City's Asset Management process and approved for funding during the 2022 budget process. The pool floor tiles have exceeded their projected life cycle and over time, have resulted in a rough feeling surface while swimming. The tile’s replacement will improve the quality of the tiles for a better user experience.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks its citizens for their patience and cooperation during this temporary pool closure period and looks forward to welcoming swimmers this summer.
