Street Closure (Biggings Avenue Conversion)

Public Works and Engineering Services will close Biggings Avenue to throughway traffic on Thursday, March 12.

On December 2, 2019, City Council approved the conversion of Biggings Avenue from a two-way street to one-way southbound street from Wellington Street East to Queen Street East.

In order to complete this conversion, Public Works and Engineering Services will close Biggings Avenue to throughway traffic on Thursday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The closure is needed to remove any pavement markings that are not required and to install new signage.

Once the work is complete, the road will function as a one-way street in the southbound direction. Sault Ste. Marie Police Services will enforce all traffic requirements of the new road conversion. Motorist, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to be cautious when travelling on this street and to obey all signage.
