Showing your ballot is not permitted

Voters are not permitted to show a marked ballot to anyone. This includes taking a picture or video of your marked ballot.

Voters are not permitted to show a marked ballot to anyone. This includes taking a picture or video of your marked ballot. Taking a picture violates the Municipal Elections Act Section 49 (3)(a)(b) which states:

(3) No elector shall,

(a) take a photograph or video recording of his or her marked ballot; or

(b) show his or her marked ballot to any person so as to reveal how he or she has voted, except in connection with obtaining assistance in voting under paragraph 4 of subsection 52 (1). 2016.
