The City’s Public Works team continues to keep roadways safe and clear with its winter maintenance clean-up efforts. City plow trucks and graders will be clearing as much snow and ice as possible. This will likely take place during the night and into the morning. The areas of focus for Thursday evening include:

  • South of Queen Street and East of the golf course through to Dacey Road
  • Dacey Road Easterly to Fournier
  • East of Shannon between Queen Street Trunk Road
  • West of Great Northern Road between St. Georges Avenue and Northern Avenue
Residents are reminded to allow extra time for driveway maintenance as there may be more snow than usual at the end of driveways. Motorists should also drive according to the conditions and to give snow plow operators room to clear routes safely and efficiently. Under By-law 77-200-5(14), parking of vehicles on city streets is not permitted during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m. however, residents are also asked to not park on city streets during the day to assist in the efficiency of snow removal.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during its clean up efforts. For more information, residents may contact Public Works at 705.759.5201 or email [email protected]. Updates will be posted to the City’s website and social media sites as required.
