Proposed Local Improvements - Bruce Street

Notice of the Proposed Construction of Sanitary Sewer, private drain connection and Class 'A' Pavement on Bruce Street from Queen Street East to Wellington Street East under Section 3 Ontario Regulation 586/06 filed under the Municipal Act, 2001 (Proposed By-law 2018-14).

1. The Council of The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie intends to construct sanitary sewer, private drain connection and Class 'A' Pavement on Bruce Street from Queen Street East to Wellington Street East as local improvements and intends to specially assess a part of the cost upon the land abutting directly on the work. The proposed construction is to commence in the year 2018.

2. The estimated cost of the work is $2,591,000.00 of which the City Corporation will pay $2,561,794.73. The balance of $29,205.27 will be specially assessed against the owners as follows:
(a) $30.50 per metre frontage for sanitary sewer
(b) $304.00 for each Private drain connection
(c) $79.50 per metre frontage for Class 'A' pavement

The special assessment may be paid in one payment or in the alternative by ten equal annual instalments. If the special assessment is paid in ten annual instalments, those annual payments shall be subject to an interest rate as determined by the Commissioner of Finance/Treasurer.

Persons desiring to petition against undertaking the work must do so on or before the 25th day of February, 2018 by sending the petition to the City Clerk's Department on the 4th Floor of the Civic Centre.
