Nomination period open for Heritage Award

Nominations for the 2019 Municipal Heritage Committee Heritage Award are now being accepted by the Sault Ste. Marie Municipal Heritage Committee.

Nominations for the 2019 Municipal Heritage Committee Heritage Award are now being accepted by the Sault Ste. Marie Municipal Heritage Committee. This award recognizes individuals, groups or community organizations for outstanding contributions to the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the City’s heritage resources as defined in the City’s Cultural Policy.
 
Awards may be given for the following contributions:
  • A heritage property that has been maintained or that is an enhancement to a neighbourhood or the community;
  • An addition to a historic property or new construction (infill) that is sensitive to the historic context of the property of a neighbourhood or the community;
  • Restoration or adaptive reuse projects;
  • Other contributions to the preservation, restoration and enhancement of heritage resources.
The heritage activity must directly relate to the community of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
 
An individual, group or community organization may make one nomination each year. The nomination forms are available online and at the Community Services Department – Level 2, Civic Centre.
 
Completed nomination forms should be submitted to the Municipal Heritage Committee, c/o Virginia McLeod, Manager of Recreation and Culture, Level 2, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, ON  P6A 5X6. 
 
Deadline for nominations is Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
