2020 Community Recognition Award nomination period opens

Nominations for the 2020 Community Recognition Award are now being accepted by the Cultural Advisory Board.

The award is presented annually to recognize exceptional community development projects from local businesses or organizations for particularly outstanding or innovative cultural activities or long-term commitment to the field of culture as defined by the City’s Cultural Policy. An individual, group or community organization may make one nomination each year.

Community development is an all-encompassing term. Eligible projects may positively benefit the community in one or several of the following ways:

• Enhance the visual quality of the built environment
• Pursue sustainable development and protect the natural environment
• Promote equity and accessibility to a variety of people, income groups, and abilities
• Maximize employment and earning opportunities
• Facilitate heritage preservation
