An incident at a multi-unit residence on Wellington Street East on Tuesday night has led to charges against a 42-year-old.

Around 10 p.m., officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's Emergency Services Unit responded to a 911 report of a person damaging property with a metal object in the 100 block of Wellington Street East.

Police say the accused used a metal driveway marker to damage the property of someone known to them, and also attempted to hit someone with the object earlier in the day.

No physical injuries were sustained in the incident.

The accused was arrested without incident after police arrived.

Justin St. Amour is charged with:

  • assault with weapon
  • mischief under $5,000
  • failure to comply with probation order (x4)

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and St. Amour is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
