Domestic Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 28 year-old male yesterday afternoon on an outstanding domestic related warrant and charged him with one count of assault, one count of resist arrest, one count of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation.

It is alleged that officers spotted the accused in the downtown area and when they approached him he ran on foot. After an extensive search of the area the accused was located in the area of Macdonald and Gladstone Avenue and arrested. During the arrest the accused resisted officers and when being transported to the station he spat all over the rear of the cruiser.

The domestic related warrant was in relation to an incident that took place on the 30th of August when the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend in a downtown laneway causing minor injuries to her. At the time of the offences the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is appearing in bail court this morning.

Child Pornography Investigation Results in Charges

On the 6th of September at 7:25 am investigators with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Technological Crime Unit and members of the Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at 362 Borden Avenue (basement apt.) in relation to a child pornography investigation.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Technological Crime Unit that commenced on the 7th of August, officers arrested 25 year-old that Beau Ryan of that address and charged him with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of importing or distribution of child pornography.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Three Shoplifting Related Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39 year-old Scott Erdman of #4-262 Wellington Street West at Sears in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of enter premises when entry prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that on the 6th of September the accused attended at Sears and stole a jacket and a pair of track pants. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. At the time of the offence the accused was prohibited from entering the store. The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of October.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 34 year-old Kerry Mearow of 187 Hudson Street on the 6th of September at 6 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that he attended at the store and stole some items. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. He is to appear in court on the 17th of October.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old female youth at 5:05 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that she attended at the store and stole a necklace. She is to appear in court on the 18th of October.

Male charged with mischief
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26 year-old Larry Babic of 94 Lorna Drive on the 6th of September at 11:40 am at the police station and charged him with one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 06th of September at approximately 9:00 am the accused attended at a residence on Copernicus Street and kicked in the front door breaking the door frame.

Theft Reports

• A homemade trailer that had two televisions and a couch on it was reported stolen from Goetz Street.

• Three blue Rail flags were reported stolen from the Huron Central Railway property on Oakland Avenue.

• An acoustic guitar and a Gateway computer monitor were reported from a storage unit on McNabb Street.

• A truck was broken into on Corey Avenue and a leaf blower, a Rubbermaid tote a tow rope and band and a St Johns first aid kit were reported stolen.

• A vehicle parked in a local east end bar parking lot was broken into yesterday. A laptop and iPod that were left inside were stolen.

Mischief Reports

• A vehicle on Charlotte Drive was vandalized.

• A local business in the 700 block of Peoples Road reported vandalism with several eggs being thrown at the building.
