1. Investigation leads to Charges in relation to Several Thefts and a Robbery Incident:

19 year-old James Bolan of no fixed address was arrested while in custody at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged with one count of robbery, three counts of theft under $5,000.00, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release document. The accused was wanted on several outstanding charges in relation to a robbery and several thefts over the past three months. It is alleged that the accused was captured on store video surveillance at Wal-Mart on the 14th of August when he attended and stole a LCD flat screen television. The accused was also responsible for another theft caught on video on the 22nd of August when he attended at the Pine Plaza Laundromat and stole a purse from the counter area where a female was doing laundry nearby and a theft of a basket full of groceries from the A&P on Churchill Boulevard on the 6th of September. It is further alleged that on the 12th of July the accused attended at St. Vincent’s Place on Albert Street East and stole a wallet of a male after punching him in the head several times. This incident was also recorded on video surveillance cameras. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.

2. Male Arrested after Pawning Stolen Generator:

25 year-old Wayne Sinobert-Briscoe of 506 Sherbourne Street was arrested yesterday afternoon just before 3 pm while in custody at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre. He is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 13th of September at 1:15 pm the accused attended at a local Pawn Shop and pawned a stolen generator.

3. Male Youth Arrested as a result of an Assault and Mischief Incident on a City Bus:

A 13 year-old male youth was arrested on the 23rd of September at 9 pm on Cathcart Street and charged with one count of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of mischief. It is alleged that the male youth got onto a bus at the City Bus Terminal with two other youths and began to cause a disturbance by yelling and swearing. When the bus driver asked them to settle down, in the area of Gore Street and Albert Street, the accused spat on him. The driver ordered them off the bus and when he closed the door, the accused kicked out the glass portion of the door, shattering it. The youths fled on foot. Police were called and a description of the suspect was provided. The accused was quickly apprehended by police in the area of Cathcart Street. City police also learned that the accused had threatened to kill the bus driver during the incident.

4. Male Arrested on Several Domestic Related Assaults:

A 21 year-old male was arrested on Macdonald Avenue on the 23rd of September at 2:56 pm in relation to a domestic related incident that had occurred earlier that morning. He has been charged with three counts of assault, two counts of threaten death or bodily harm and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 23rd of September around 10:30 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his common-law spouse at her residence and assaulted her by choking her, throwing her around and also made threats to kill her. Officers investigating the incident learned that the same victim had been assaulted by the accused on two previous occasions as well. The accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour at the time of the incidents.

Male Arrested for Assault:

44 year-old David Robinson of 368 Moody Street was arrested at his residence on the 23rd of September at 10:01am and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that during the afternoon hours on the 15th of September the accused got into an altercation with another male, known to him, at the Brandy’s Pit Aggregate scale area. The two drivers were there in relation to their occupation as dump truck operators when the assault took place. It is alleged that the accused tackled the male victim and twisted his finger. The accused attended at the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The accused is to attend in court on the 27th of October.

Property Crimes:

One break and enter was reported to a garage on Letcher Street that occurred sometime between 6 – 6:15 pm. A medium size tool chest full of tools was stolen. It was reported that the homeowner observed a black GMC half ton pick up truck parked outside his residence around 6:15 pm last night and went to see who it was. He observed a male inside his garage. He asked him what he was doing in his garage and the male stated that he was there for a pick up of items that the homeowner had no knowledge of what the male was referring to. The male immediately left in the truck. After the male left, the homeowner discovered that one of his tools boxes containing around $2000.00 worth of various tools had been stolen. The male suspect was described as being in his 30’s, 5’5”, 160 lbs, with a dark beard and moustache, wearing a black shirt and jeans. The male suspect’s truck was loaded with other items.

Theft Reports:

• Triple M Metals on Yates Avenue reported that around 40 Catalytic Converters valued at approximately $8,000.00 were stolen from the yard area sometime during the past two nights.
• A resident in the 400 block of Sherbourne Street reported vehicle parts stolen from his yard sometime over the past two nights. An engine from an Argo and several parts of a Dune Buggy were reported stolen.
