City Police had a quiet 24 hours. ASSAULT CHARGES On Tuesday, the 23rd of Sept. 2003 at approximately 12:30 p.m., City Police charged a young person with two counts of assault.

ASSAULT CHARGES
On Tuesday, the 23rd of Sept. 2003 at approximately 12:30 p.m., City Police charged a young person with two counts of assault. The charges stemmed from some issues the young person had over a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. The accused approached the young person and struck the victim in the face and chest area causing minor injuries. A by stander, who came to the assistance of the victim, was also assaulted, being punched in the face and chest area. The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and is to appear in court late October.

HOUSE ALSO DAMAGED
Also on Tuesday, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Sarah Gearing of 148 Palamino was driving a 1997 Nissan south bound on Spruce St. She failed to stop for the stop sign at Spruce and Wilcox St. and struck a 1997 Toyota being driven by Jill Olsen of 29 Grosvenor Ave. The vehicle being driven by Gearing continued on and struck the house at 82 Wilcox causing minor damage. Olson was transported to Sault Area Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Both vehicles received major damage in the collision. Gearing has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with disobey stop sign – fail to stop.

FENDER BENDER
On the 23rd of Sept. 2003, at approximately 10:40 a.m. Kelly Wood of 1112 Peoples Rd. was driving a 1995 Geo west bound on Second Line West and turned south on to Farwell Terrace striking a 1992 Chevrolet vehicle being driven by Pasquale Marelli of 285 Spadina Ave. A passenger in the Marelli vehicle was transported to Sault Area Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Both vehicles received major damage. Wood has been charged under then Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with left turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.

ATTEMPTED BREAK INS
City Police investigated several attempted break and enters that occurred overnight in the 0-100 block of Nicolas Ave., 900 block of Queen St. East, 600 block of Second Line West and the 500 block of Morin St. Minor damage occurred and entry was not gained to any of the addresses.
