Male arrested on outstanding warrants: Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Matthew Hart of #2-29 Clearview Drive yesterday at 11:50 a.m.
Male arrested on outstanding warrants:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Matthew Hart of #2-29 Clearview Drive yesterday at 11:50 a.m. on outstanding warrants at the police station and charged him with one count of breach of a release document and one count of fail to appear court.

It is alleged that on the 18th day of May the accused breached his recognizance order by failing to comply with the condition that he report to the John Howard Society and further, on the 3rd of June he failed to appear in court.

Male youth at large form youth facility arrested in relation to shoplifting incident:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 14 year-old male youth at 4:55 p.m. yesterday and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of escape lawful custody, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on the 20th of September the accused left a youth facility that he was in custody at just after 2 p.m.

At approximately 4 p.m. the accused attended at the Station Mall Footlocker store and stole a t-shirt, a hoodie and a pair of track pants and fled.

Officers searched the downtown area with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and located the accused a short time later in a tree in a rear property on John Street.

At the time the accused was wearing some of the stolen clothing items and officers discovered that he had put a hole in the track pants.

The accused was on probation at the time of the incident wit conditions that he keep the peace and be good.

Male youth arrested for assault:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 14 year-old male youth at 12:30 p.m. yesterday and charged him with one count of assault and one count of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that the accused was wanted for an incident that took place on the 14th of September when he assaulted a male known to him while on a city transit bus.

The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

At the time the accused was on a conditional discharge order with conditions that he keep the peace and be good.


Property crimes:

Two vehicles were reported entered.

One on Palomino Drive and a wallet that had been left inside was reported stolen.

The other from Palace Drive, a passport was taken.
