Update to 9th of September Robbery Incident – Second Male Suspect Located and Arrested

Earlier Release: Youth Arrested for Robbery and Theft:
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old male on the 10th of September at 11:07 pm and charged him with one count of robbery and one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 9th September at approximately 10:30 pm the accused and a second youth were in the area of Terry Fox Place when they approached another male youth walking in the area, assaulted him and stole his necklace. Another youth walking with the victim had his hat stolen by the males.

Officers know the identity of the second male youth involved in this incident and are attempting to locate him. The victim received non-life threatening injures during the incident. The accused is to appear in court on the 18th of October

Update

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested the second male suspect wanted in relation to this robbery at 4:45 am this morning on Cathcart Street after responding to a disturbance at his apartment. Ryan Simpson, age 18, of 132 Cathcart Street (upstairs) was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with one count of robbery, one count of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breach of recognizance.

At the time of his arrest the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was on conditions that he not consume any alcohol, he was supposed to be residing at a address on Dacey Road, and to be there between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am, and further, he was to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested for Causing a Disturbance and Assaulting a Security Officer at Sault Area Hospital

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Xavier Gellatly of no fixed address on the 4th of October at 4:15 pm and charged him with one count of assault, one count of cause a disturbance and two counts of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on the 4th of October at approximately 4:05 pm police received a call to Sault Area Hospital regarding an intoxicated male causing a disturbance outside the Emergency Department. When officers arrived they found the accused in an intoxicated state, being uncooperative and swearing at security guards in the public entry area of the Emergency Department. When officers arrested the accused he continued to yell and swear loudly after being cautioned. Upon being placed in the cruiser the accused spat on the security officer.

At the time of the offence the accused was on a probation order with conditions that he not consume any alcohol, to notify change of his address and he was to keep the peace and be good.

Domestic Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 42 year-old male on the 4th of October at 4:15 pm at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged him with seven counts of breach of recognizance. It is alleged that between June and August the accused breached numerous conditions in relation to a recognizance order that he was on for domestic related assaults. The accused has contacted, seen and communicated with the female victim when on conditions not to. Further the accused has used and been in possession of a cell phone when he was conditions not to.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant for Breach of Probation

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old James Humphrey of 44 Edinburgh Street on the 4th of October at 10:24 pm on an outstanding warrant and charge him with one count of breach of probation.
