Search warrant executed

On the 31st of October 2012 at approximately 1205hrs, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team, Intelligence Unit and Patrol Services executed a search warrant at the residence of 34 year old Terrance Mingo, located at 688 Albert Street West-Basement Apt.  During the course of the search, officers located 157 grams of cannabis marihuana packaged for resale at street level, 30 grams of cocaine, and 13 Oxycodone tablets.  Terrance Mingo was arrested and found to be in possession of one Oxycodone (Percocet) tablet and 1gram of cocaine.  As a result, Mingo was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.  At the time of the offences, Mingo was bound by an undertaking with conditions that he abstain from the possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well as to notify change of address, which he had not done.  As a result, he was further charged with three counts of breach of undertaking.

Break ins

A B&E was reported to a residence on Summit Avenue this morning. Taken was a large quantity of power tools.

A break in was reported to a residence in the 200 block of Huron Street. Electronic equipment was taken from the residence.

Outstanding warrant

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team arrested 30 year old Corey Blais of 115 Cambridge Place at approximately 3:20 yesterday afternoon.   Mr. Blais was observed and checked by officers in the area of Central Street and it was found that there was an outstanding committal warrant for him.  As a result he was arrested and taken into custody.

Fraud

43 year old Terrance Polowy of 22 Anich Road was arrested last night by officers from Patrol Services.  It is alleged that Mr. Polowy went to the Zellers store on Northern Ave at around 3:30 p.m. and selected a set of blankets.  The accused then switched the packaging on the blankets in order to change the price code from  $119.48 to $22.46.   The accused brought the items to the cashier and paid the lower price for the blankets rather than the original cost.  He was subsequently arrested by police and charged with one count of fraud under $5000.

Arrest in break and enter

Last evening officers with Patrol Services arrested 2 females in relation to a break and enter.  The accused are alleged to have entered a residence in the 100 block of Bellevue Ave through a rear window between the 29th and 30th of October.  As a result of the investigation 19 year old Shelby Deubel of 166 Kohler Street and another 16 year old female were arrested and charged with one count of break and enter.

Possession

25 year old Richard Souriol of 296 Sussex Road was arrested last evening and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.  Mr. Souriol was a passenger in a vehicle driven by another accused Jeremy Sampson, who was also arrested and charged.  In addition to the controlled substances found in the vehicle, Mr. Souriol was found to be in possession of 6 grams of marijuana hidden in the waistband of his pants. 

Assault

Last evening at approximately 10 p.m. a 32 year old female was arrested and charged with one count of assault stemming from a domestic violence incident.  It is alleged that the accused engaged in an argument with her spouse and assaulted him by biting him on the arm.  The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Stunt Driving

Yesterday morning officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Street Team charged 21 year old Mathew Lewis with one count of Stunt Driving and seized his vehicle.  Officers observed Mr.  Lewis proceed across Second Line West near Goulais Ave. on an un-plated off road motorcycle.  While crossing the road Mr. Lewis “popped a wheelie” by having his front tire raised off of the road surface while crossing.  As a result Mr. Lewis was charged with one count of stunt driving resulting in a 7 day license suspension and seven day impoundment of his 200CC Saga off road motorcycle.  Operating a motor vehicle in this fashion, and in a high traffic area such as this, is not only dangerous to the driver but to members of the public as well.  Motorists are reminded that off road vehicles are prohibited from being operated on the roadways within city limits.

Outstanding warrant

A vehicle stop last evening resulted in City Police arresting Jeremy Sampson (age 38) of 22 Broadview Dr. for an outstanding warrant. Subsequent investigation revealed percocets and marijuna in the vehicle. Added charges of possesion for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon were laid. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.
