Two Males Arrested After Breaking into Churchill Plaza Beer Store:

18 year-old Keegan Day of #1-266 Albert Street East and a 16 year-old male youth were both arrested last night at 10:42 pm after they allegedly broke into the Churchill Plaza Beer Store. They are both charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of stolen property. Police received a break and enter in progress call to the store around 10:40 pm. A witness had observed the two males breaking into the beer store and then attempting to flee. Police arrived and quickly apprehended the two in the area with some beer that they had stolen from the store. They are both to appear in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrest:

A 20 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of October at 9:50 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 26th of October the accused communicated with his ex-girlfriend when he was on a probation order not to communicate with her. At the time he was also on conditions to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifting Arrests:

1) 37 year-old Scott Erdman of #4-262 Wellington Street West was arrested at 12:00 pm at Wal-Mart on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that around 11:38 am he attended at the store and stole 13 Xbox 360 games. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. At the time of the offence he was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in court on the 7th of December.

2) Two youths, age 15 years were arrested on the 27th of October at 5 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft. It is alleged that the male and female accused persons attended at the store at 5:13 pm and stole some items. They were apprehended by security and held for police. They are to appear in court on the 1st of December.

Traffic Services Requesting Public’s Assistance with Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision Investigation:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is investigating a collision that occurred on Oct. 23rd at 9:00 pm at the intersection of Second Line East and Sackville Road. This collision involved two pedestrians being struck by a car. After striking the young persons the older male driver of the car stopped and offered the young persons assistance, which they declined. The unknown driver and vehicle then departed the scene. The vehicle that struck the 15 and 16 year old males was described as a teal coloured 4 door sedan. A short time after the collision the pedestrians realized they had received minor injuries in the collision and attended the Sault Area Hospital where they were treated and released.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Services Section is requesting any information on the identity of the vehicle or driver that was involved in this collision to contact them at 949-6300 extension 348.

Theft Reports:


Vehciles were entered on Wemyss Street and Palomino Drive. Some change and a GPS were reported stolen. Suspect/s may have attempted to steal the vehicle on Wemyss Street as well, the owner discovered that the steering column was punched out.

Mischief Reports:

• A window was damaged by a pellet shot last night.
• A residence in the 300 block of Wellington Street West had windows smashed out by rocks thrown at them.
