Female Charged with Fraud 30 year-old Elizabeth Nevitt of 14 Blucher Street was arrested on the 30th of September at 4:30 pm at her residence and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.
Female Charged with Fraud

30 year-old Elizabeth Nevitt of 14 Blucher Street was arrested on the 30th of September at 4:30 pm at her residence and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of fraud, one count of personation with intent and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 22nd of September the accused stole a wallet from a female known to her, attended at the victim’s bank, presented herself as the victim and withdrew $900.00 from her account. At the time of the incident, the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Investigation Results in Charge of Stolen Property from a Residence Break and Enter on the 30th of July

39 year-old Claude Corriveau of 489 Cathcart Street (Main) was arrested while in custody at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that when city police executed a drug search warrant at the residence of the accused on the 12th of September, they found an HP Laptop computer, a Kodak digital camera and an iPod that had been reported stolen in a break and enter to a residence on Albion Street on the 30th of July. The accused is to appear in court on the 3rd of October. (Drug Arrest and Charges were previously released on the 15th of September.)

Shoplifting Youth Arrested

A 14 year-old female youth was arrested on the 30th of September at 2:35 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocer and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 30th of September the accused attended at Rome’s and stole some medication. She was apprehended by store security and held for police.

Robbery under Investigation:

City police are currently investigating a robbery complaint that was reported by a 44 year-old male victim around 12:45 am. Officers attended for a report of males fighting in the area of Gore Street and Wellington Street around 12:45 am. Officers attended in the area and observed a lone male that was bleeding from a gash to the nose area. The male advised them that he had left a downtown bar and that he had been beaten up by two other males, one carrying a bat, about a half hour prior. He reported that he was struck with the bat and had his wallet stolen. The victim attended at the hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.
The males were described as both having a dark complexion, the male with the bat was taller with long black hair, wearing a blue t-shirt and track pants.
The only description provided for the second male was that he was shorter.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle

City police were called to a motor vehicle and pedestrian collision on the 30th of September at 3:16 pm at the intersection of Wellington Street East and Lake Street that sent a 17 year-old female pedestrian to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that a Toyota Camry that was turning left onto Wellington Street East from Lake Street struck the pedestrian that was crossing Wellington Street East in the pedestrian cross walk with the cross walk signal activated.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota, 86 year-old Gladys Scutt of 1549 Wellington Street East was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of fail to yield to pedestrian.

- A truck cap window of a truck parked in the 300 block of Goulais Avenue was smashed.
- A front and rear window of a vehicle parked on Moluch Street were smashed
- A picture window of a residence in the 1300 block of Third Line East was smashed.
- A window of a residence in the 300 block of Albert Street East was smashed.
