Domestic Dispute

A 27 year-old male and a 20 year-old female were both arrested at their residence just after 6 am yesterday morning after police responded to a domestic dispute call.

The male has been charged with four counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

The female has been charged with two count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

It is alleged that on the 6th of May between 4:00 am – 5:30 am the two got into a verbal argument at their residence that escalated physically. During this incident, it is alleged that the female chased her common law boyfriend with a knife, and the male made threats to kill his girlfriend while he was holding a knife. They both received non-life threatening injuries that did not require any medical attention. When officers were investigating the dispute, the female complained of a previous assault that occurred on the 26th of April.
At the time of arrest, the female was found in possession of small amounts of cannabis resin and ecstasy. The male was found in possession of a small amount of oxycontin.
They are both to appear in bail court this morning.

Assault, Forcible Confinement & Breach

A 18 year-old male was arrested on the 6th of May at 5:20 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of forcible confinement, and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 6th of May around 2:00 pm the accused assaulted his girlfriend while at his residence by punching her several times. When the victim attempted to leave the residence the accused refused to let her go. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. At the time of the incident, the accused was on probation with condition not to communicate with the victim and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Drug Bust

On the 6th of May around 7:30 pm officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Street Team, Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services, executed a search warrant at 26 1/2 Wallace Terrace. Officers located and seized small quantities of cannabis marijuana, cocaine and prescription pills.
As a result, the following persons were arrested and charged:

1) 43 year-old Simon Barnes of 1079 Bruce Station, Bruce Mines, Ontario, charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
2) 46 year-old Robert Ferris of 26 ½ Wallace Terrace, charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
3) 41 year-old Kathryn Jocko of 26 ½ Wallace Terrace, charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
4) 39 year-old Michelle Collins of 26 ½ Wallace Terrace, charged with five counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
They are all to appear in court on the 16th of June.

Drug Bust #2

On the 6th of May at approximately 1:05 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Services Street Team, with the assistance of the Joint Forces Drug Unit, executed a search warrant at 325 Chambers Avenue. Officers located and seized 49 marijuana plants, 19.9 grams of marijuana, 8 cannabis resin spliffs and various drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was approximately $24,928.00.

As a result, 28 year-old Joshua Boyer of 325 Chambers Avenue was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance. He is to appear in court on the 9th of June.
