Male Arrested for Stealing Purse from Vehicle

In the afternoon hours on the 4th of May, the Sault Ste. Marie Street Team officers were on street patrol in the downtown area of the city due to a rash of thefts from vehicles. At 4:14 pm the officers observed a male on a bike in the Algoma District School Board parking lot at 644 Albert Street East looking in a car window and then reach inside an open window and remove a purse. The male fled the area and was pursued by officers. A short time later, with the assistance of the K9 Unit and Patrol officers, the accused was located on Queen Street East and arrested. The male was also found to be on two probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, which he breached. As a result, the male, 23 year-old Cody Cuthbertson of #-606 Wellington Street East was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and two counts of breach of probation.

Male Arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm

26 year-old Luke Perron of #3-18 Wellington Street West was arrested on the 5th of May at 1:33 am at the city police station after turning himself in and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. The accused was wanted for an assault incident that took place on the 18th of April when t he accused allegedly assaulted a male while at a local bar. The 23 year-old male victim suffered a broken jaw and had to be hospitalized as a result of the assault. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

20 year-old James Charles Bolan of 70 McNabb Street was arrested on outstanding warrants on the 4th of May at 11 pm on Tancred Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of fail to appear court and one count of fail to appear for prints. The theft charge was in relation to a shoplifting incident back in August when the accused allegedly stole a flat screen television from Wal-Mart.
