Male to appear in bail court: Yesterday morning city police were called to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, 800 Great Northern Rd. regarding an assault complaint.
Male to appear in bail court:

Yesterday morning city police were called to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, 800 Great Northern Rd. regarding an assault complaint. Upon arrival officers spoke to complainant and subsequently arrested and charged an in-mate. It is alleged that the accused, Cody Cuthbertson, defecated in his cell, when staff entered the cell to clean it the accused threw soiled clothing at a correctional officer. It is also alleged that the accused damaged a food tray. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation with conditions to be good and keep the peace. Cody Cuthbertson, age 22, of no fixed address is charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief and two counts of breach of probation. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Youth charged with Mischief:

Yesterday morning city police called to a west end address regarding a mischief complaint. Upon arrival officers spoke to staff members at the residence and were informed that a resident had damaged a phone. It is alleged that the accused, a 15-year-old female got into an argument with staff members and then damaged a phone by throwing it against the wall. At the time of this offence the accused was on two probation orders with conditions to be good and keep the peace. The accused is charged with one count of mischief and two counts of breach of probation. She will be appearing in court on June 30th at 9:30 am.

Youth charged with Theft:

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 12:30 pm city police were called to the Zellers Store, 306 Northern Ave. regarding a female shoplifter. Upon arrival officers were informed that a 15-year-old female was in custody for theft. It is alleged that the accused stole a tester from the pharmacy department. The accused is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000. and will be appearing in court on June 30th at 9:30 am.

Property Related Incidents:

Break and Enter:


A residence in the 300 block of Boundary Rd. was entered yesterday between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm. Suspect(s) stole a quantity of liquor and a digital camera.

Mischief:

A vehicle parked in the 4700 block of Second Line W. was damaged yesterday.

Suspicious Person:

Yesterday evening at approx. 8:20 pm a resident of the 100 block of Grandmount Cr. reported a suspicious male at her residence yesterday. The complainant reports hearing her door bell ring. When she approached the front door she observed a male looking in her windows. When she opened the front door the male ran to a beige mini van and drove off. The suspect is described as: Male, black, stocky build, wearing a green jacket, a red baseball cap and large sunglasses. The public is reminded to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service if they observe any suspicious occurrences or persons.
