Motor Vehicle Collision

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently at the scene of at single motor vehicle collision that has sent 2 persons to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of injuries. The extent of the injuries is not available at this time. Around 3:30 am this morning City Police responded to the collision at the area of Second Line East and Black Road. Traffic Services is continuing their investigation into this incident and at this point there are few details available for release. The public is advised that Black Road between Second Line East and Third Line East is closed as a result of this. The bypass itself remains open; the closure is just north of the bypass intersection. The public is advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area to reduce traffic congestion. The closure is expected to last until mid-morning. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will advise the media when the area is open.

Domestic Dispute

A 49-year old female will be appearing in bail court this morning. Yesterday morning just after 7 am officers attended at a downtown residence after receiving a call regarding a domestic dispute. When the officers searched the female they located a push knife and a swiss army knife in her jacket pocket. The female has been charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon in relation to the push knife.

Impaired Driver

Last night just after 1 am Fire Services contacted the City Police to advise they had an impaired driver and his car stopped on Douglas Street due to erratic driving. When officer arrived they found 57-year old John Gary MacDonald of 523 Douglas Street displaying signs of impairment. Mr. MacDonald has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on June 20th.

Break and Enter

20-year-old Rolland Periard of 137 East Street Unit #1 was arrested yesterday afternoon. Officers attended at the Sault Area Hospital after a complaint was received of the accused allegedly entering an office and going through a desk and filing cabinet. The accused has been charged with one count of break and enter with intent. Nothing appears to have been taken. The accused will appear in court on June 13th.

Male Threatened Death

A 33-year old male will appear in court after he was arrested yesterday afternoon in relation to a domestic related matter from the 8th of May. It is alleged on that date that the male threatened to kill his girlfriend during an argument that occurred in the City’s east end. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening and will appear in court on June 15th.

Youth Charged With Assault


A 15-year old youth was arrested yesterday in relation to an incident at a centrally located high school that occurred on May 9th. It is alleged that on that date the accused slapped another youth in the face and threatened to harm the victim if they told on the accused. Another student who witnessed the assault was also threatened. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening and one count of intimidation. The accused will appear in court on June 14th.
