The following four persons will be appearing in bail court today:

1. Ronald Pine, age 21, of 405 John St. It is alleged that between May 2006 and February 2007 Ronald Pine breached his probation on three occasions by failing to report to his probation officers and by failing to perform his community service order. He is charged with three count of breach of probation.

2. Jennifer Adams, age 25, of 329 First Ave. Yesterday morning at approx. 10:55 am Ms Adams was arrested on warrants for theft under $ 5,000 and of failing to appear for court. It is alleged that on February 25th the accused failed to appear in court on theft under $ 5,000 and breach of probation charges. As a result Ms. Adams is further charged with one count of fail to appear in court and one count of breach of probation.

3. A 21-year-old male was arrested early this morning and charged with one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement. It is alleged that at approx. 2:20 am this morning the accused assaulted his common-law spouse by grabbing her by the neck and arm and throwing her about the room. The accused is then alleged to have confined the victim in the residence - preventing her from leaving. The victim did not require medical attention. This incident occurred in the city’s west end.

4. A 20-year-old male was arrested early this morning and charged with two count of breach of probation, one count of obstruct police and one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that at approx. 4:00 am this morning the accused obstructed police when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a female at a west end residence. The accused would not allow officers into the residence. It is further alleged that the accused resisted officers when he was being arrested. At the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Possession of a Weapon

On Friday March 7th at approx. 9:15 pm Alan Bertrand, age 22, of 6 Linden Dr., Heyden turned himself in to the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and was charged with one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, one count of assault with a weapon causing bodily harm and one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that at approx. 2:30 pm on Friday March 7th the accused and another male person attended at a west end bar and while there they assaulted a male known to them with a baseball bat. Both accused fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim of the assault was taken to the Sault Area Hospital and treated for a broken leg. A warrant is being issued for the second suspect. Mr. Bertrand will be appearing in court on April 7th at 9:00 am.

Assault with a Baseball Bat

Last night at approx 7:00 pm city police arrested James Hodgkins, age 48, of 9 Ascot Ave. It is alleged that at approx. 2:30 pm on Friday March 7th the accused and another male person attended at a west end bar and while there they assaulted a male known to them with a baseball bat. It is further alleged that on March 6th at approx. 10:00 pm the accused broke into a residence in the 700 block of Mackenzie Ave. and threatened the tenants. James Hodgkins is charged with one count of threatening with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of break and enter with intent and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Mr. Hodgkins will be appearing in court on April 14th at 9:00 am.

Break & Enter

A residence in the 100 block of Champagne Dr. was entered and a quantity of electronic equipment was stolen. The incident occurred between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

City police are investigating two reports of theft from vehicles from overnight.

Vehicles parked in the 100 block of Moluch St. and in the 600 block of McNabb St were entered. CDs and electronic equipment were stolen.

City police received three reports of mischief.

A home in the 100 block of Murphy St. had a front window smashed. Police are also investigating two reports of egging last night. A residence in the 100 block of Biggins Ave and a vehicle parked in the 600 block of McNabb St. were egged between 1:00 am and 3:00 am. A vehicle similar to a Dodge Neon was seen driving away from the scene of one of the incidents.
