Two Males Arrested after going through Vehicles in the Ashgrove Avenue and Amber Street Area:

Last Evening at approximately 12:35 am city police were called by residents in the area of Amber Street and Ashgrove Avenue that were complaining that two males were entering their yards and going through their vehciles. A description was provided that the males were both wearing dark clothing and hoodies. When police arrived in the area, the males fled. One male was apprehended in the area of Ashgrove Avenue and the other was later located and arrested at his residence.

Arrested on scene was 18 year-old Daniel Murphy of 160 Ashgrove Avenue. He has been charged with attempt theft and theft under $5,000.00. He is to appear in court on the 13th of July.

Arrested later at his residence was a 14 year-old male youth. He was charged with the same offences as well as one count of trespassing at night and two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act for breaching his curfew hours and not keeping the peace and being of good behaviour. He is to appear in court on the 3rd of June.

Shoplifting Arrests:

1) 72 year-old Michele Diberardino of 228 Millcreek Drive was charged last evening at 8:09 pm at Soo Mill Buildall on Great Northern Road after he entered the store just after 8 pm and allegedly concealed 5 steel clamps and pluming pipe in his pockets and left the store without paying for them. He was apprehended by store employees and police were called. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and is to appear in court on the 29th of June.

2) 30 year-old Jacquilynne Gray of #413-100 James Street was charged yesterday afternoon around 2:25 pm at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road after she allegedly entered the store and concealed packages of meat in a reusable grocery bag and left the store without any attempts to pay for them. She was arrested by store security and held for police. She has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and will appear in court on the 6th of July.

3) 55 year-old Roseanne Allen of 55 Blake Street was charged last evening around 6 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers after she allegedly stole groceries from the store around 4 pm. She was apprehended by store security and police were called. She was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and is to appear in court on the 6th of July.

Property Crimes:

Thefts:


• A John Deere tractor was stolen from a residence yard in the 200 block of Old Goulais Bay Road.
• A bicycle was stolen from the Group Health Centre on McNabb Street yesterday.
• A wallet and a safety harness were stolen from a worksite trailer that was parked in the condominiums construction area on Bay Street.

Break and Enter:

A residence under construction was broken into sometime from the 30th of May and the 1st of June. Tools and cables were reported stolen.

Mischief:

• Unknown persons entered the compound of the Boniferro Mills Works property sometime overnight on the 2nd of June and spray painted some graffiti on boats and started a fire in the dumpster.
• A front door of a door at an apartment complex was broken.

Collision at Queen St E. & Churchill Blvd

City Police were called to a motor vehicle collision yesterday at 9:21 am at the intersection of Queen Street East and Churchill Boulevard that resulted in both drivers and one passenger receiving minor injuries. It is alleged that a Toyota Vehicle that was travelling eastbound on Queen Street East attempted to make a left hand turn onto Churchill Boulevard and turned left in front of a Ford truck that had been travelling westbound on Queen Street East. The driver of the Toyota, 81 year-old Emerson Bentley of 34 Peach Drive was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of left turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision. He was transported to hospital by ambulance. His passenger also received minor injuries.
