Theft From Pawnbrokers 45-year old Denis Morin of 482 Charles Street will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on June 27th just before 2 am the accused broke into the Queen Street Pawnbrokers located at 11 Tancred Street.
Theft From Pawnbrokers

45-year old Denis Morin of 482 Charles Street will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on June 27th just before 2 am the accused broke into the Queen Street Pawnbrokers located at 11 Tancred Street. When officers attended at the business they found the accused inside and it is alleged that the accused smashed a jewellery display case. The accused was arrested and officers located several items of jewellery in his care. When officers initially arrested the accused he allegedly identified himself by another name. Further investigation by officers from Investigation Services lead to the true identity of the accused being Denis Morin. Mr. Morin has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence and one count of personation with intent.

Theft

A 16-year old youth was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 26th of June the accused stole a minivan from a centrally located address. Officers located the van later in the day. The accused will appear in court on August 1st.

Assault

A 16-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a 16-year old female by pulling the victim’s hair and punching her. The incident occurred in the downtown area. The accused and the victim are known to each other. The accused will appear in court on August 8th.

Police Looking FOr Theft Victim

Officers from Patrol Services are looking to find a victim of theft that occurred yesterday afternoon at the John Rhodes Center. While investigating another matter, officers located a wallet and contents that was allegedly stolen from the locker room area of the pool around 3 pm yesterday afternoon. If you are the victim of this incident, you are asked to contact the investigating officer, Constable Spina, at 949-6300 ext. 5283.

Break & Enter

Yesterday City Police received one report of a break and enter in the last 24-hour period. A home in the 200 block of Kingsford Road was entered between 8 am and 1 pm yesterday. Items taken include an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency as well as U.S. currency. In addition jewellery and a camera were also taken. Bear Sighting

Yesterday bears were seen in the area of Fort Creek Drive, Westridge Road and on Trunk Road near the Wellington Square Mall. City Police and the Ministry of Natural Resources would again like to remind the public to remove any food sources that may be attractive to the bears.
