Missing Person The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a local missing person. Joseph Allan Kelley, age 54, was last seen at 6:00 am on the 22nd of June at his east end residence.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a local missing person. Joseph Allan Kelley, age 54, was last seen at 6:00 am on the 22nd of June at his east end residence. Joseph Kelley is described as being white, 5’7”, 125 pounds, thin build, blue eyes, greyish-brown hair, grey moustache and thin light beard. He may have been wearing a black Nike jacket, blue jeans and possibly a Corona beer hat.

Joseph Kelley’s vehicle was located last evening by the Thessalon O.P.P. approximately 70kms north of Highway 17 East on Highway 129 unoccupied in the ditch area. The O.P.P. is currently searching the area in attempts to locate him.

Family members are concerned for his health and well-being.

Female Youth Charged with Criminal Harassment

A 17 year-old female youth was arrested on the 22nd of June at 6:10 pm on Second Line East and charged with one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that she has harassed a female known to her for approximately three weeks by continuously attending at her residence and banging on the doors and window, following her around and threatening her. The accused is to appear in court on the 27th of July.

Property Crimes

Four vehicles in the east end of the city were gone through. Change was reported stolen out of most of the vehicles. Copper pipes were reported stolen from the yard of a construction business in the 1000 block of Great Northern Road.

R.I.D.E. Program

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. Program last Friday evening. There were 384 vehicles checked and 7 roadside tests administered. There were no impaired driving charges laid or 12 hour suspensions issued and 4 Highway Traffic charges were laid.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is committed to getting drunk drivers off the roads in the City of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area. The R.I.D.E Program will continue throughout the upcoming holiday weekends and summer months. Officers will also be on the lookout for aggressive drivers, those speeding, not wearing seat belts and those using cell phones while driving.
