Results of 2 Search Warrants On Friday June 17th the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed two search warrants at 2 separate residences, which resulted in the seizure of a number of firearms and narcotics.

On Friday June 17th the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed two search warrants at 2 separate residences, which resulted in the seizure of a number of firearms and narcotics.

Just after 1 am members from the Street Team, Investigation Services, Emergency Services Unit, and Patrol Services at attended at 1004 Pine Street. Officers located a .35 calibre revolver located in a tin box, a blowgun with darts and an expanding asp, both being prohibited weapons. Officers also located an X-box system, which had been stolen from a break and enter into a home on Passmore Road in March of this year. Officers also located some cannabis residue, .5 grams of cocaine, 7 grams of marijuana and 18 grams of psilocybin. The drugs have a street value of approximately $650.
20- year old Derek Lethbridge of that address has been charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime, one count of careless use of a firearm, weapon, ammunition, one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and 3 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The accused will appear in court on July 25th.
Around 5:30 pm officers from the Street Team, Investigation Services, Emergency Services Unit, Canine Unit and Patrol Services executed a search warrant at 265 James Street Upstairs and located an unregistered insecure 410 Mossberg shotgun, a number of .22 rounds of ammunition, 3 grams of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia. The cocaine is estimated to be worth $300. The following person have been charged:

1) An 18-year old male has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of careless use of firearm, weapon or ammunition, one count of breach of firearms regulation, one count of possession for a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Due to the breach of probation under the YCJA the name of the offender cannot be released. He will appear in court on July 25th.
2) 26 year old Derrick Cadreau of 265 St James Street upstairs has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and 2 counts of careless use of a firearm, weapon or ammunition. Mr. Cadreau has been in custody and has a court appearance this morning.
3) 23-year old Shaun Mearow of 2102 Mission Road, Goulais River has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, weapon or ammunition, and one count of breach of firearms regulation. He has also been in custody and will also appear in bail court this morning.
4) 23-year old Henry Cadreau of 25 Hughes Street has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of careless use of a firearm, weapon or ammunition, one count of unauthorized passion of a firearm and one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm. He has also been in custody since the warrant and will appear in bail court this morning.

Break and Enter

Yesterday afternoon just after 1 pm a homeowner in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue returned home and once inside the house heard noises from the basement. The homeowner called City Police who attended and located 2 youths hiding in the basement. 1 of the 16-year-old youths has been charged with one count of break and enter with intent to commit an offence and will appear in court on July 26th. The second youth was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching their curfew hours on June 17th. This youth has been charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of break and enter with intent to commit an offence and will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Fails to Appear for Fingerprints

25-year old Thomas Pine of 6 Kim Drive in Heyden will appear in bail court this morning. Mr. Pine was arrested yesterday afternoon on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with Theft

22-year old Raymond Gregoire of 217 Beverly Street basement apartment will appear in court on July 25th after being arrested yesterday morning on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that in January of this year the accused stole a purse from an employee of the Holiday Inn. It is alleged that the accused had in his possession a money order from the victim’ s purse that he cashed during the same time frame. The monetary value was under $100. Mr. Gregoire has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Male Charged with Failure to Appear in Court

24-year old Derek Nott of G-5 614 MacDonald Avenue was arrested last night after City Police officers stopped his vehicle. A query of the driver, Mr. Nott, revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for fail to appear for court in February of this year in relation to an impaired charged back in December of 2004. Mr. Nott has been charged with one count of fail to appear in court and will appear in court on July 25th.

Female Charged with Harassing Calls

A 31-year old female was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of harassing phone calls. It is alleged that between May 23rd and June 20th of this year the accused called her ex-boyfriend repeatedly during this time frame. The accused will appear in court on July 25th.
