Robbery At Mac's Just after 1:30 am this morning a lone male entered Mac’s Mart at the corner of Gore Street and Wellington Street and allegedly robbed the store.

Just after 1:30 am this morning a lone male entered Mac’s Mart at the corner of Gore Street and Wellington Street and allegedly robbed the store. The suspect entered the store brandishing a knife and then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of cigarettes. The suspect in this incident left on foot west bound on Cathcart Street. The Suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’7, 160-180 lbs, short shaved hair, 45-50 years old, wearing jeans, and a long sleeved white shirt with a pin stripe. This investigation is ongoing and City Police request the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for this robbery. Impaired Driver

20-year-old Michael John Digasparro of 155 Moss Road was stopped by officers just after 3am this morning and charged with 1 count of Impaired Driving. The vehicle in this incident was observed by officers traveling on Fourth Line and crossing over the center line numerous times. When eventually stopped on Peoples Road, the driver appeared to be in an intoxicated state. Michael Digasparro was arrested and transported to the station where a breath test was conducted. He will be appearing in court on July 24th.

Domestic Disturbances

On the 19th of June City Police responded to a domestic situation in the downtown area. It is believed that a female assaulted her common-law husband at their residence by punching him in the head. Upon arrival the accused had already left the area. Yesterday just after 2pm the 35-year-old female turned herself in to the police at the City Police Station. She has been charged with 1 count of Assault and will be appearing in court on the 24th of July.

City Police responded to a domestic situation yesterday morning around 11am. It is believed that a male and female became involved in a heated argument in the east end of town. The argument eventually escalated and became physical with the male pushing and punching the female repeatedly and causing damage to the female’s property. Police responded to the residence and arrested the male who was sober at the time of the assault. The 24-year-old male has been charged with 1 count of Assault and 1 count of Mischief Under $5000. He is to appear in court this morning.

Shoplifting From Rome's

39-year-old Greg John Roy of 874 Queen Street East will be appearing in court on the 24th of July 2006. It is believed that the accused attended at Rome’s Independent Grocery Store and was observed by store security leaving without making any attempt to pay for 2 steaks in his possession. Store security apprehended the male and contacted the City Police. Greg Roy has been charged with 1 count of Theft under $5000 and 1 count of Failing to Appear in Court on the 8th of January.
