Two Will Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) A 25-year old male was arrested last night just after 11 pm and charged with one count of breach of probation, two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of forcible confinement. It is alleged that between the 6th of June and the 13th of June the accused made several phone calls to his ex-common-law wife and threatened her. It is further alleged that on one occasion the accused confined the victim to a bedroom by locking the door. At the time of the offences the accused was on probation.

2) Early this morning a 24-year old male turned himself into police in relation to a domestic violence matter from May 25th. It is alleged that on May 25th the accused got into an argument with his girlfriend at her centrally located residence. The accused allegedly shook the victim and then hit her with a pillow. At the time of the offence the accused was on a release order with conditions to stay away from the victim and to be in his own residence between 10 pm and 7 pm, which he allegedly failed to comply with. The accused was also on a probation order with conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. The accused was gone prior to police arrival and a warrant was requested for the male. The male has been charged with one count of assault, three counts of breach of a release order and two counts of breach of probation.

Impaired Driver

Just before 2 am this morning officers on routine patrol were on Albert Street East when they observed a vehicle in front of them swerve over the centre line on two occasions. The officers stopped the vehicle at Bruce Street and Albert Street East and when they spoke to the driver they detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on him. 23-year old Farren Link of 73 Manitou Drive was arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 17th.

Assault

Officers from Investigation Services arrested 19-year old Matthew Wegener of 50 Parker Avenue yesterday afternoon. It is alleged that on the 28th of May the accused assaulted a male known to him by punching the victim in the head several times. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The accused has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and will appear in court on July 17th.

Theft
22-year old Tyler Ames of 625 McNabb Street was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 13th of June the accused attempted to leave the IDA Drug Store with unpaid merchandise including allergy medication. The accused was apprehended by Station Mall Security and turned over the City Police. The accused will appear in court on July 17th.

Yogi & Boo Boo Are At It Again

In the last 24-hour period there has been one report of a bear sighting. Yesterday morning around 7 am City Police attended in the 400 block of Landslide Road after 2 bears were observed in a yard. There were no other sightings reported.

Break & Enters

City Police received two reports of break and enters yesterday:

1) Just before 8 am a homeowner in the 100 block of Powley Road reported a break and enter to their garage. The break in occurred between 9 pm on the 12th and 7 am on the 13th. Several tools were taken as well as gasoline from some vehicles in the garage.

2) Just after 8:30 am City Police received a report of an attempt break and enter in the 300 block of Old Goulais Bay Road. Sometime between 1 pm and 2:30 pm on the 12th of June a door to the residence was damaged but entry was not gained.
