Assault Charges Laid A 26 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of June at 1:45 am on McNabb Street and charged with one count of assault.
Assault Charges Laid

A 26 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of June at 1:45 am on McNabb Street and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 13th of June at approximately 1:15 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend at her east end residence by punching her in the face and head. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Drug Bust

On the 12th of June at approximately 10:50 am officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Investigation Unit with assistance of the Canine Unit, the Emergency Services Unit and the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of members of the O.P.P. Drug Enforcement Section, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, the RCMP and the O.P.P. North East Region executed a search warrant at a residence at 11 Lethbridge Crescent.

Officers located 122 codeine pills with a street value of $2,440.00, 4925 grams (10.8 lbs) of cannabis marihuana with a street value of $98,500.00, 14198 contraband cigarettes and 8800 grams of contraband loose tobacco valued at $1,930.00. Officers also located a debt list and $8,356.00 in cash. The following two male persons have been arrested and charged and are appearing in bail court today.

1) 32 year-old Hilton Bissonnette (Junior) of #1-725 Guy Street in Cornwall Ontario has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of breach of probation.

2) 50 year-old Ira Middaugh of 11 Lethbridge Crescent has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.

Shoplifting from Zellers

19 year-old Melissa Charron of #105-99 Cambridge Place and 20 year-old Nikki Lyn Doucette of #201-26 Terry Fox Place were both arrested on the 12th of June at 4:30 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged with theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the two females attended at the Zellers Store yesterday afternoon and stole approximately $99.26 worth of cosmetics, jewellery and diapers. The two are to appear in court on the16th of July.

Break & Enter

There was a report of a break and enter to a residence on Letcher Street on the 12th of June. At approximately 11:41 pm a resident on Letcher Street reported that is neighbour was not at home and he believed that the home had just been broken into. He advised that he observed three four males come out of the front door and one of the males carrying a black duffle bag. There also may have may have been a fourth male involved. The males were last seen heading east of Mckenzie Avenue. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the males. The four males are described as:

1) Male, short, wearing glasses, arm crutches and a camouflage shirt

2) Male carrying black duffle bag, stocky build, bald, wearing a grey short sleeve shirt

3) Male, tall, short hair, medium build.

4) Male, long dark brown hair in a pony tail, wearing a long sleeve white shirt and dark pants.

There were several vehicles damaged and entered over the last 24 hours:

1) A tailgate of a vehicle on Denwood Avenue was keyed overnight from the 11th to the 12th of June.

2) The ignition was pried from a vehicle on Great Northern Road between the 9th and the 12th of June.

3) The ignition was smashed out of a vehicle parked on Dacey Road.

4) A vehicle was entered on Prentice Avenue overnight from the 11th to the 12th of June. Some papers were thrown around the vehicle. It is not known if anything was taken.

5) A vehicle was spray painted on Devon Road overnight the 11th to the 12th of June.

6) A vehicle was on Third Avenue was spray painted overnight from the 11th to the 12thj of a June.

7) A vehicle was entered on Lewis Road from the 11th to the 12th of June overnight. The owner reported some identification and medication stolen.

8) There was a wallet reported stolen out of a vehicle on Albert Street East on the 12th of June.

9) A vehicle was entered and gone through on Boundary Road from overnight from the 11th to the 12th of June. It is not known if anything was taken.

10) A vehicle on Eastern Avenue was gone through overnight from the 11th to the 12th of June. It is not known if anything was taken.
