Cab Driver Robbed, Suspect Charged Multiple Times Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:45 pm a cab driver was robbed at knifepoint in the downtown area. The suspect fled the area on foot and the cab driver was not harmed.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:45 pm a cab driver was robbed at knifepoint in the downtown area. The suspect fled the area on foot and the cab driver was not harmed. The Easy Cab driver had picked up a fare in the downtown area and the suspect pulled a knife on the accused while on Albert Street West. Patrol officers attended in the area immediately and were assisted by the K-9 Unit and police dog Tazer, as well as officers from Investigation Services. Just after 5:30 pm 28-year old Michael Dupuis of no fixed address was taken into custody and charged with one count of robbery with an offensive weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for purposes dangerous to the public.

Previous News release from June 15th - Just after 11:30 pm last night a cab driver from Checker Cab was robbed at knifepoint. The driver picked up a fare in the area of the Mac’s Mart on Gore Street. It is alleged that while on Wellington Street West the male suspect pulled a knife on the driver and demanded money. A small undisclosed amount of money was handed over to the suspect who then fled from the cab. The suspect is described as being a white male, 5’10” tall, late 20’s to early 30’s with a skinny build and face. The male was clean-shaven and wore a brown waist length jacket. The driver was not harmed. The investigation is continuing into this matter. If you have any information regarding this robbery, contact City Police at 949-6300. Update: It is alleged that on the 14th of June just after 11:30 pm the accused Michael Dupuis of no fixed address robbed a cab driver from Checker cab at knife point and has been charged with one count of robbery with an offensive weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for purposes dangerous to the public.

Previous News release From June 15th - Just after 6 am this morning a second cab driver was robbed at knifepoint. The cab driver from 7500 Taxi was in the area of John Street and Huron Street. The male suspect is described as being 6’ tall, wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a ball cap. The suspect also had dirty blonde hair. The suspect made off with a small-undisclosed amount of money. The cab driver was not harmed. Few details are available at this time. Both robberies are currently under investigation. Update: It is further alleged that on the 15th of June shortly after 6 am the accused robbed a 7500 Cab Driver at knifepoint and has been charged with one count of robbery with an offensive weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for purposes dangerous to the public.

It is further alleged that on the 28th of June the accused stole a VCR and DVD’s from a residence on Riverview Avenue. At the time of this offence the accused was on a release order to be residing at a specific address and failed to so. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release order.

Mr. Dupuis will appear in bail court this morning in these matters.

Four Other Persons Will Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) 18-year old Kathleen Boissoneau of 180 White Birch Drive, Garden River turned herself into City Police yesterday afternoon on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court on June 30th. She was charged with one count of assault police officer on the 22nd of April and allegedly failed to attend court.

2) A 26-year old male was arrested just after 2 am this morning and charged with three counts of breach of a release order, one count of assault and one count of fail to attend court in relation to the assault charge. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends address while on conditions on a release order to not be at her residence or communicate with her. The accused was subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on the assault charge. He was also arrested for breaching the release conditions.

3) A 27-year old male was arrested just before 10 pm last night and charged with three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused communicate with his ex-girlfriend on the 22nd of June while on a probation order not to communicate with her. Further investigation revealed that the accused was not living at the address specified on the probation order and also failed to keep the peace and be good by communicating with the victim.

4) A 40-year old female was arrested last night around 10 pm and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 3rd of July the accused broke a beer bottle on her boyfriend’s face. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. It is further alleged that on the 3rd of July the accused threatened a female known to her.

Mischief

53-year old Jewel Browe of 704 Wallace Terrace was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused slashed two tires on a car of a person known to her. The victim’s vehicle was parked in a business parking lot in the City’s west end. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused will appear in court on August 14th.

Attempted Break & Enter

Yesterday morning just before 11 am City Police attended in the 100 block of Estelle Street for an attempt break and enter. It is alleged that persons attempted to get into the residence but were unsuccessful.
