THREATENED DEATH A 31-year old male was arrested shortly after midnight this morning after he contacted his ex-girlfriend by telephone and threatened to kill her.

A 31-year old male was arrested shortly after midnight this morning after he contacted his ex-girlfriend by telephone and threatened to kill her.

Shortly before midnight the male phoned the victim and told her he was going to her residence, kick in her door and bash her head in. The victim immediately called the police. The male was already on a probation order with conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim.

He has been charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. He will appear in bail court this morning.


ARRESTED AT THE BORDER
Clifton Payne, age 27, of Canton, Georgia will appear in bail court this morning on a weapons related matter.

At approximately 4:00 this morning, Mr. Payne attempted to enter into Canada with a .380 handgun and was detained by Customs officials and turned over to the City Police. Mr. Payne has been charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.


IMPAIRED CHARGES
Around 4:00 this morning, patrol officers observed a car driving at a high rate of speed heading northbound on Great Northern Rd. The car then turned left onto Second Line East at a high rate of speed causing it’s wheels to squeal.

Officers stopped the car on Second Line East and found the female driver showing obvious signs of impairment. She was taken into custody when it was also learned that she was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints from another criminal matter.

Janet Lee Day, age 37, of Cutler, Ontario will appear in bail court today after being charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of failing to provide a breath sample and one count of failing to appear for fingerprints.


ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
Yesterday afternoon alert patrol officers spotted a young person wanted from an assault that occurred on July 24th. Shortly before midnight on July 24th patrol officers and officers from the Investigation Services Section received a report of an assault on an elderly male that had occurred in the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue.

The male victim had heard a commotion outside his residence and went outside to see what was happening. He found a small group of youths verbally arguing with a female neighbour. The male and a youth got into an altercation and the youth punched the victim in the head, which resulted in the victim falling to the ground. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

On the 27th of July officers were aware the youth was wanted for aggravated assault related to this matter and subsequently arrested him. He has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and will appear in court on August 31st.


BREAK & ENTERS
Yesterday police took two reports of break and enters. In the first matter a house in the 100 block of Manitou Drive was entered through an unlocked door and a Zenith DVD player and a Nintendo game cue were taken.

Also reported yesterday was a break and enter into an unlocked garage in the 400 block of Charles Street. Thieves cut a chain that had been securing a lawnmower to a pole and made off with a Mastercraft 5 hp lawnmower, red in color, with a value of $400.
