REPORTED STABBING
Yesterday morning shortly before 11 am, City Police responded to a possible stabbing call to a residence in the 500 block of Bush Street. Investigation by officers on scene revealed no stabbing had taken place, however, 2 males in the residence had gotten into an altercation that ended with one of the males striking the other male over the head with a knife-sharpening steel.

CLOSE CALL
City Police were called to the intersection of Pim Street and Queen Street East yesterday around 2:30 pm after a young child on a bicycle was struck by a motor vehicle.

The 27-year-old driver of a pickup truck had come to a complete stop on Pim Street at Queen Street East. The driver was observed looking both ways and as the driver started to move forward to turn right onto Queen St E, a young child travelling westbound on the sidewalk of Queen Street came in front of the truck.

Both the cyclist and driver saw each other at the same time and were able to both come to a stop. The child did not require any medical treatment. The driver of the pickup truck, 27-year-old Sean Seccareccia, of Fairmount Drive has not been charged in this accident.

DEALING WITH BEARS
Even though City Police have seen a drop in the number of bear calls, the public is reminded to continue to use steps to reduce the attraction of food sources for the bears. Ensure your garbage cans are closed and secure, if you have large dumpsters, ensure that the lids are used on them.

Even though natural food sources are available for the bears they may still come around to an established source. If you see a bear, do not approach and call City Police.
