Robbery At Mac's On Wellington Early this morning City Police responded to a call of a robbery at Mac’s Mart at 312 Wellington Street East.

Early this morning City Police responded to a call of a robbery at Mac’s Mart at 312 Wellington Street East. It is believed that the accused, 23-year-old Michael Robert Mandigo of No fixed address and an unknown second male attended at the Mac’s Mart at approximately 12:30am and threatened physical violence if money was not given. No assault took place and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. Michael Mandigo was arrested shortly after 1:00am at the corner of Spruce and Pardee Avenue. He is to appear in bail court today.

The second male in this incident is described as, 6ft, light complexion, skinny, wearing a ball cap, a green shirt and jeans. If you have any information on this crime or any other crime please contact the City Police at 949-6300 or crime stoppers at 942-7867.

Assault At The Pound
Yesterday afternoon 41-year-old Carrie Joy Jones of 84 Letcher Street attended at the Humane Society on Second Line East to pick up her stray dog. She was asked to pay a pound fee and refused. At this time she assaulted a staff member by pushing him, kicking him and stomping on his feet. She then took her dog and fled.

The accused was apprehended a short distance away on Second Line and eventually charged with 1 count of assault at the Police Station. She is to appear in court on the 21st of August. The employee of the Humane Society did not require medical attention.

Assault

A 39-year-old male will be appearing in court today after being charged with assaulting his girlfriend. On the 7th of July while at Harmony Beach the couple became involved in a heated argument, which eventually led to the accused assaulting the victim by grabbing her and pushing her to the ground. While the victim attempted to leave the area the accused once again assaulted the victim by reaching into the car window and grabbing the victim by the throat.
During a second incident on the 12th of July the accused and the victim began to argue once again while at a residence in the west end of the city. This time the accused kicked the victim in the chest area then left the residence. The accused was arrested yesterday evening at his downtown residence and charged with 2 counts of assault.

Man Charged For Lighting Fence On Fire

On the 18th of July at approximately 9pm the accused 20-year-old Donald Irvine Jordan of 28 Wellington street East Apt#3 did commit damage to a fence by destroying the fence then burning it in a fire. The fence did not belong to the accused and was situated at 151 Anna Street. The accused was arrested a short while later at his residence and charged with 1 count of mischief under $5000. It was also revealed that the accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court and was charged accordingly. The accused is to appear in court today.
