The following persons will appear in bail court this morning: 1) 36-year old Leonard Solomon of 65 Hiawatha Drive, Garden River was arrested yesterday morning shortly before noon hour and charged with one count of aggravated assault.
The following persons will appear in bail court this morning:

1) 36-year old Leonard Solomon of 65 Hiawatha Drive, Garden River was arrested yesterday morning shortly before noon hour and charged with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that on the 29th of January the accused stabbed a 32-year old male. The accused and victim are known to each other. The victim remains in the Sault Area Hospital.

2) 55-year old Alfred O’Connor of 3-138 East Street was arrested last evening on outstanding warrants. It is alleged that in October of 2006 the accused failed to appear for fingerprints and court. The accused will appear in court on one count of fail to appear in court and one count of fail to appear for fingerprints in relation to a theft under $5,000 charge.

Impaired Driver

Shortly after 8:30 pm last night officers from Patrol Services attended in the area of St. Georges Avenue West regarding a possible impaired driver. Officers located the driver of the vehicle in the driveway of a residence. It is alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. 30-year old Amanda Lewis of 58 Gibbs Street has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. She will appear in court on March 5th.

Person Charged with Snowmobile Theft

Overnight between the 12th and 13th of January a 1996 Polaris Indy, blue in colour, was taken from Autorama on Black Road.


Update:

Yesterday afternoon officers from Patrol Services arrested and charged 19-year old Allan McClelland of 39 Pineshores Road with one count of theft under $5,000 in connection with this investigation. The accused will appear in court on February 26th.

Assault Charges

A 19-year old female was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 30th of January in the early morning hours the accused assaulted her boyfriend by punching him. The incident occurred in an east end address. The accused will appear in court on March 5th.

Two reports of break and enters were received yesterday:

1) Sometime between 7 am and 7 pm yesterday a home on Henrietta Avenue was entered. Items taken include a Gateway laptop and numerous DVD’s.

2) Sometime between 7 pm and 10 pm last evening a home on Hocking Avenue was entered. Items taken include jewellery, an undisclosed amount of money and approximately 150 DVD’s.

Police out on Snowmobiles

Over the past several days officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service have been out with the police snowmobile.

Over 140 snowmobiles have been checked and 30 tickets have been issued to operators. Most of the offences include operating a snowmobile while licence is suspended, operating a snowmobile with no permit, failure to produce insurance and speeding. Several operators were also charged under the city by-law for operating snowmobiles in prohibited areas.

Maps that show where snowmobiles are allowed or prohibited are available at the front desk of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service building located at 580 Second Line East.

Remember to drive responsibly and to obey the laws when it comes to operating a snowmobile. Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will continue to be out on patrol on the snowmobile.
