Drug Bust

Late yesterday afternoon the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Section, the R.C.M.P. and the OPP North East Region executed a search warrant at an east end residence. Officers from Patrol Services and the Street Team also assisted the Drug Unit. During the search officers located approximately 3200 grams (7lbs) of marijuana, 11 grams of cocaine, and a number of ecstasy tablets as well as codeine tablets. The estimated street value of the narcotics is just over $8,000. The following persons were charged and all will appear in court on February 13th:

20-year old David MacLary of 22-110 Breton Road has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

20-year old Jamie Woodford (female) of 22-110 Breton Road has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

20-year old Michael Crowe of 134 Central Street has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
Shortly before 8 pm last night City Police received a call of a car in the snow bank in the 100 block of Fairview Avenue. When officers arrived they found the driving sitting behind the wheel and the car running. Officers noted a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver. 60-year old Peter Manchulenko of 48 Fairview Avenue was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide a breath sample. He will appear in court on February 13th.

News Release January 9th Regarding a Break and Enter

A home in the 600 block of Douglas Street was entered during the afternoon of the 8th. Thieves made off with an X-box, several games, DVD’s and videos.

Update

Yesterday afternoon City Police arrested a 17-year old youth and charged them with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of break and enter and commit an offence. The accused will appear in court on February 14th. An X-box that had been taken was recovered.

Male Charged with Assault

A 37-year old male was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of assault after City Police attended at a west end residence for a domestic assault. It is alleged that the male assaulted his common law wife after they got into a verbal argument. It is alleged that the male grabbed the victim by the throat and threw her against a wall, pinning her there. The victim was able to free herself and called police. The male has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on February 13th.

Break and Enter

Yesterday afternoon a homeowner in the 100 block of Spadina Avenue reported that between 7:45 am and 3 pm their home was entered. Thieves took a quantity of food including canned goods.
