Two Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning: Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 49 year-old male overnight and charged him with one count of criminal harassment.

Two Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 49 year-old male overnight and charged him with one count of criminal harassment.  It is alleged that for the past several months, and one numerous occasions, the accused has attended at his ex-girlfriend residence, residences of persons known to her while she was there and also at her workplace and harassed her.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 52 year-old male last evening and charged him with five counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 7th of February at approximately 4:45 pm officers attended at a downtown residence for an unwanted male. When officers arrived they located the accused in an intoxicated state and when they ran a check on him they discovered that he was on probation with conditions that he not consume any alcohol. Further, he was involved in a domestic dispute with the female that resided there and was on conditions that he not attend at her residence, not harass, molest, annoy her and was to keep the peace and be good.  The accused was subsequently arrested and is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Female Arrested for Assault:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year-old Melissa Elkin of no fixed address at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre last night and charged her with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 7th of February, while in custody at the centre, the accused threw a plastic drinking cup at a fellow inmate.  At the time the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Break and Enter Reports:

  • A business in the 200 block of Second Line West was broken into overnight.  Cash was reported stolen.
  • A residence on Estelle Street was broken into sometime overnight on the 6th of February.  A computer and jewellery were reported taken.
