Two Bail Court Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Jordan Paim of #2-331 Wellington Street West at 7:44 pm last night on Pine Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 27th of January the accused was at a residence of a person known to him, stole a laptop from the home and then pawned it later at a local pawn shop.  At the time of the offense the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace, be good and to remain in his place of residence.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 13 year-old male on the 31st of January at 12:55 pm on Bay Street and charged him with one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release document.  It is alleged that police was found the accused in the company of a male that he was on court release document conditions not associate or communicate with.   Further, he was on probation to keep the peace and be good.  He is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Impaired Driving Arrest:  

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26 year-old Robert Allard of 919 Second Line West at 1:31 am on the 1st of February and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit.  It is alleged that on the 1st of February at approximately 1:00 am the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Second Line West just west of Allen's Side Road. Upon arrival, police observed a sedan in the ditch on the south side of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, the accused, was found under the influence of alcohol and failed the roadside screening device test.  He is to appear in court on the 5th of March. 

Shoplifting Related Charges:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 43 year-old Darin Layden of 2 Wallace Terrace on the 31st of January at 10:07 am at Zellers at the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of fail to appear for prints.  It is alleged that the accused attended at the store and stole a shirt.  When officers ran a check on him they discovered he was wanted for failing to appear for prints in December.  He is to appear in court on the 5th of March.

Homeowner Assaulted in Break and Enter - Seeking Public’s Assistance:

At 5:40 am this morning, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to a break and enter in progress at a residence in the 100 block of Pim Street.  The resident was home at the time and was assaulted by the intruder. The male suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival.  Police searched the area with negative results.  The resident is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at the hospital.  Officers remain at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, wearing a grey and black jacket and toque.
