Attempted Robbery Just before 10:30 pm last evening a lone male entered the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 650 Boundary Road and robbed the store. The male produced a knife and a small undisclosed amount of money was obtained.

Just before 10:30 pm last evening a lone male entered the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 650 Boundary Road and robbed the store. The male produced a knife and a small undisclosed amount of money was obtained. The clerk was not harmed in the incident. Officers from Investigation Services assisted Patrol Officer last night on this robbery. The male is described as being just less than 6’ tall and had a black scarf over his face. The male also wore a black toque, a dark jacket with a white stripe across the chest and back with some writing on the jacket as well and black pants. The male is further described as having a heavy build and blue eyes. Possession of Property Obtained By Crime

35-year old Kelly Schmitz of Elliott Lake and 25-year old Joseph Longrain also of Elliott Lake were both arrested just after 7 pm last night. It is alleged the Kelly Schmitz was operating a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck that had been stolen earlier in the day from a residence in the 100 block of James Street. Officers from the City Police, assisted by the OPP and the Anishinabek Police, stopped the vehicle just east of Echo Bay. Mr. Schmitz had been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of breach of probation and will appear in bail court this morning. Mr. Longrain has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and will appear in court on March 6th.

Male Charged with Assault

A 34-year old male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that last evening the accused assaulted his common law wife by slapping her on her leg leaving a mark as well as threatening to break her jaw. The incident occurred in their centrally located residence. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with Breach of Probation

19-year old Ryan Chiblow of Blind River will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that the accused spit at two guards at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre while they were performing their duties as correctional officers. The accused has been charged with one count of breach of probation and two counts of assault peace officer.

Assault Charges Laid

21-year old George Crack of 1-204 Queen Street East was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of aggravated assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a male by punching him in the eye on the 17th of January causing permanent damage to the victim’s eye. The accused will appear in court on March 6th.

Youths Charged with Break and Enter

A 15-year old youth and a 16-year old youth were both charged yesterday with one count each of possession of property obtained by crime and one count each of break and enter and commit an offence. It is alleged that the youths entered into the locked office of the residence in which they reside and removed cigarettes from the purse of a staff member. It is alleged that the youths stole the keys to the office earlier in the day. The youths were arrested outside of the west end residence and charged accordingly. The 16-year old youth was also charged with one count of breach of probation. Both youths will appear in court on March 21st.

City Police Received Three Reports of Break and Enters

Between January 29th and January 31st thieves attempted to break into a home in the 100 block of Spadina Avenue but did not gain entry.

Yesterday between 12:20 pm and 3:30 pm thieves entered a residence in the 800 block of Queen Street East and stole some money, jewellery, alcohol and electronics.

Yesterday during the daytime a home in the 500 block of Wellington Street East was entered and food was taken.

Fox Sightings

Yesterday City Police received two calls regarding the sightings of foxes in the City limits. Yesterday afternoon just after 2:30 pm two foxes were seen in the Queen Elizabeth Field and the MNR was notified. Last evening just before 10 pm a fox was seen in the area of Etienne Brule School.
