Two person for bail court this morning: 46 year old Douglas Harvey Martin of 308 Huron Street is awaiting bail subsequent to a search warrant that was executed at his place of residence on the 29th of December 2009 at 6:50 p.m.
Two person for bail court this morning:

46 year old Douglas Harvey Martin of 308 Huron Street is awaiting bail subsequent to a search warrant that was executed at his place of residence on the 29th of December 2009 at 6:50 p.m. Members of the specialty Street Team Unit assisted by Patrol Services allegedly located a quantity of opiates (morphine, oxycontin, and percocet) as well as a quantity of currency indicative of trafficking activity. Thus, the accused was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. 35 year old Tracy Joan Daigle of 262 Wellington Street West was also found in the residence at the time that the warrant was executed and was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. She was not held for bail but rather released with a court date of the 01st of February 2010.

38 year old Shannon Catherine Edwards of 104 Hiawatha Drive, Wawa, Ontario is awaiting bail due to a breach of her conditional sentence order. The order compelled the accused to be in her place of residence between the hours of 7p.m to 7a.m.; however, the she was located by local police on the 29th of December 2009 at 9:20p.m. on Brock Street at Bay Street. She was charged with breach a conditional sentence order.

Improper storage of firearms:

49 year old Keith Joseph Aikens of 517 Nelson Street was arrested on the 29th of December 2009 at 5:29 p.m. at his place of residence and charged with three counts of improper storage of a firearm. It is alleged that on the 18th of December 2009 the accused had left three long guns at a previous residence on Reid Street without trigger locks or a cable to render them safe and properly stored. Mr. Aikens is to attend court on the 01st of February 2010.

Failing to appear for prints:

33 year old Marc Garfield Jardine of 331 Cheshire Street was arrested at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on the 29th of December 2009 at 4:16 p.m. and charged with one count of failing to appear for finger prints. It is alleged that the accused had failed to appear as scheduled on the 22nd of December 2009. A warrant was subsequently issued for the accused. He was released and is compelled to attend court on the 01st of February 2010.

Theft from Rome’s Grocery Store:

53 year old Caleb Stephen Perrault of 340B Highway 17E in Garden River was arrested on the 29th of December 2009 at 7:40 p.m. on Pim Street by a loss control officer from Rome’s Grocery Store. It is alleged that the accused was previously in Rome’s and stole six packages of cheese. He was stopped by the security officer outside the store and a short foot pursuit resulted in his apprehension on Pim Street just south of McNabb Street. Police attended and continued with the arrest and subsequent release. Mr. Perrault was charged with one count of theft under five thousand dollars and is required to attend court on the 01st of February 2010.

Theft from Sears:

A 16 year old male young offender was arrested on the 28th of December 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Sears (293 Bay Street) for allegedly stealing a watch valued at $49.99. The accused was observed concealing the item on his wrist and covering it with his jacket. He was arrested by security upon leaving the store and police were subsequently called. At the time the accused was on a probation order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior. He was charged with one count of theft under five thousand dollars and breach of probation. He was released with a court date of the 2nd of February 2010.

Impaired driver:

35 year old Douglas Philip Boucher of 63 Haviland Shores Drive in Goulais River, Ontario was arrested on the 30th of December 2009 on Charles Street for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged that the accused was initially observed by police in a laneway in the downtown core of the city speeding off in a Pontiac car. Police followed the accused and noted his erratic driving behavior which resulted in a vehicle stop on Charles Street. It was determined that the accused was under the influence of alcohol and as such he was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The accused was brought to the Police Services Building where he provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. Subsequently, Mr. Boucher was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and consuming over the legal limit. He is required to attend court on the 01st of February 2009.

Theft from vehicles:

Vehicles parked on the 100 block of Pozzebon Crescent, 100 block of Boundary Road, and the 400 block of Third Line East were entered sometime during the night. Some loose change was reported stolen from the vehicle on Pozzebon Crescent.

Traffic accidents where provincial charges laid:

32 year old Lisa MacLean of Medicine Hat Alberta was involved in a traffic accident on the 29th of December 2009 at 10:27 a.m. at Second Line East and Old Garden River Road which resulted in a charge under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. It is alleged that the accused was westward bound in a dodge Dakota pickup truck on Second Line East and entered the intersection at Old Garden River Road on a red light. Her vehicle was subsequently struck on the rear driver’s side area by a car that was northward bound through the intersection on a green light from Old Garden River Road. The accused was uninjured in the collision and the 75 year old male driver of the other vehicle sustained minimal injury that did not require medical attention. The collision resulted in severe damage to the MacLean vehicle but light damage to the car. MacLean was charged with a provincial offence for failing to stop for a red light.

47 year old George Merling of Peoples Road was involved in a motor vehicle collision on the 29th of December 2009 at 1:41 p.m. on John Street at Northland Road which resulted in a provincial infraction. It is alleged that Mr. Merling was operating a GMC Envoy eastbound on Northland Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at John Street due to slippery road conditions. His vehicle slid past the intersection and struck a northbound vehicle (a car that was being operated by a 31 year old male) on John Street that was slowing to turn left onto Northland Road. No injuries were reported with regard to the drivers or their passengers. Mr. Merling’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and the other vehicle was lightly damaged. Mr. Merling was issued a provincial offence notice for failing to stop for a stop sign.
