Youth arrested for assault with a weapon Last night at approximately 10:30 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 16-year-old male for assault with a weapon.
Youth arrested for assault with a weapon
Last night at approximately 10:30 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 16-year-old male for assault with a weapon. It is alleged that at about 8:00 pm the accused sprayed another youth, known to him, in the face with bear mace. The victim was taken to the Sault Area Hospital, treated and released. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a dangerous weapon. He is to appear in court on Jan 25th at 9:30 am.

Male arrested for driving while prohibited
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 56-year-old male for driving while prohibited. It is alleged that the accused male was operating his vehicle on Great Northern Rd. when he was involved in a motor vehicle collision. When officers arrived to investigated the collision it was learned that the accused was prohibited from driving. Patrick Pomerleau, age 56, of 212 Albert St.E Apt # 6 is charged with one count of drive while disqualified and is to appear in court on Jan 24th. The accused person’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days as a result of this offence.

Male arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:15 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 31-year-old male for theft under. It is alleged that the accused male attended at the Tim-Br Mart, on Wellington St. W. and stole a dead bolt, valued at $ 129.99. It is further alleged that at the time of his arrest the accused had a syringe containing morphine on his person. It is also alleged that at the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to keep the peace and be good. Peter Miller, age 31, of 169 James St. is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation. Mr. Miller is to appear in court on Jan 24th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for theft under $ 5,000
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:00 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old male for theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused male attended at the Metro Store, in the Market Mall, and stole $15.96 worth of meat products. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to the police. John Turner, age 35, of 60 Atwater St. is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 and is to appear in court on Jan 24th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter
A business in the 100 block of White Oak Dr was broken into last night. At this time it is unknown what was taken.

Theft
A Wells Cargo enclosed trailer was stolen from the 1300 block of Trunk Rd.
