Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant for Sexual Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37 year-old Adrien Dupuis of #1-145 Pim Street at 9 pm last night at his residence on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a sexual assault incident that occurred at approximately 3:30 am on the 9th of December at his residence. The female victim and the accused were known to each other. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of breach of probation and is to appear in bail court this morning.

Two Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested an 18 year-old male at 2:39 am this morning at his residence and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 15th of December at approximately 2 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend while she was at his place of residence. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 45 year-old male at 12:43 am this morning and charged him with one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that the accused has criminally harassed his ex-girlfriend over the past two months by continuously calling her, leaving her messages and attempting to break into her residence. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Shoplifting
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 56 year-old Peter Vaillancourt of 37 Kingsmount Boulevard at 7:10 pm on the 14th of December at Food Basics on Pine Street and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that he attended at the store yesterday and stole some items. He is to appear in court on the 29th of January 2011.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 47 year-old Richard Spadafore of #4-700 Pine Street at 2:36 pm at the police station on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that between the 20th and 21st of November the accused obstructed a Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officer by providing false information regarding an incident that caused police to enter into an investigation. The accused is to appear in court ton the 17th of January 2011.

Theft and Smash and Grabs from Vehicles
Six vehicle windows were smashed and gone through. Purses that had been left inside three of the vehicles were reported taken.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continues to remind the public to remove all portable items of value from their vehicles. This includes electronic devices (cell phones, laptops, GPS units) along with any personal item such as a purse, wallet, sunglasses, merchandise, loose change etc. Minimally, if not taken out of the vehicle, items should be placed out of sight in a secure area of the vehicle like the trunk or a lockable glove compartment. They also remind shoppers during this holiday season, not to leave packages and gifts inside your vehicles.
