Public Assistance Needed The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Division is appealing for witnesses to a collision which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 5:30 at the corner of Great Northern Road and Third Line East.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Division is appealing for witnesses to a collision which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 5:30 at the corner of Great Northern Road and Third Line East. The collision involved a transport trailer unit and a green Chevy Lumina. It is believed that the transport trailer unit was traveling south bound on Great Northern Road and the Chevy Lumina was north bound also on Great Northern Road, attempting to make a left hand turn onto Third Line East. Both vehicles collided within the intersection. The driver of the Chevy Lumina suffered minor injuries and his female passenger suffered major injuries. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is being asked to contact the City Police at 949-6300 ext. #382

Attempted Armed Robbery

At approximately 1:30 yesterday afternoon two males entered the Cambrian Mall and went to the Wishing Well Kiosk. One male jumped the kiosk and tried to get to the till, while the other male held knife out. The two males were unsuccessful at getting money and left heading east out the parking lot towards the Group Health Center. They got into a Chevy Impala driven by a third male. Just after 5pm City Police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved on Queen Street East. Arrested was 23 year old Tyler Roy Ames of 34 Queen Street East and 23 year old Christopher James Rivard of 655 Wallace Terrace. Both have been charged with 1 count each of robbery and will be attending bail court today. A third male involved in this incident has yet to be identified.

Male with a Machete

City police responded to a call shortly after 8pm last night in regards to a male with a machete. It is alleged that the male had in his possession a machete at 161 Carufel Avenue and when officers arrived he refused to put it down. 31 year old John Howard Raymer of 161 Carufel Avenue was arrested shortly after Police arrival. He has been charged with 1 count of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, 1 count of assault with a weapon and 1 count of assault Police Officer. He will be appearing in court this morning.

Forged Document

Yesterday just after 4pm Amanda Lewis attended at the Romes Pharmacy Department and submitted a photocopied prescription for ms contin. She left the pharmacy after being questioned by the pharmacist. City Police were called and she was arrested in the parking lot. 30 year old Amanda Lewis of 141 Sutton Place has been charged with 1 count of uttering a forged document and is scheduled to appear in court on the 10 of September.

Mischief Charges after Thrown Butter

City Police arrested a female yesterday just after 11 am. The accused in this matter threw a container of butter out of a third floor window at the windshield of a police cruiser. At the time of the arrest the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 53 year old Linda Karchie of no fixed address has been charged with 1 count of mischief under $5000 and 1 count of breach of probation order. She is to appear in court on the 17th of September.

Shoplifting

21 year old Katherine Vanessa Lewis has been charged with 1 count of theft. It is believed that the accused attended at La Senza at 293 Bay Street and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for a bra she had in her possession. She was apprehended by store staff and police were called. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 10th of September.

A number of break and enters were reported.

1) The fun park at 633 Great Northern Road was broken into between the 3rd of August and the 7th of August. Although damage was caused within the business, nothing was taken.

2) 3 separate residences in the 100 block of Wilding Avenue were broken into between the 4th and the 7th of August. Unknown at this time what was taken.

3) Between 5:15 and 6:15 pm yesterday afternoon a residence in the 100 block of Wilding Avenue was broken into. Jewelry and a DVD were taken.

4) A residence in the 100 block of Carufel Avenue was broken into overnight on the 6th and 7th of August. Unknown what was taken.
