Armed Robbery at Wardlaw Fuels At approximately 3:32 am this morning city police were called to an armed robbery at the Wardlaw Fuels Gas Bar on Wellington Street West. A lone male entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded money.

At approximately 3:32 am this morning city police were called to an armed robbery at the Wardlaw Fuels Gas Bar on Wellington Street West. A lone male entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded money. The clerk complied with the demands and the male fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk was not physically harmed in the incident. The male was described as white, his 20’s, thin, wearing grey jogging pants, a black zip up hoody with a fox logo on it. Youth Charged with Breach

A 14 year-old female youth was arrested on the 28th of August at 11:00 at her west-end residence and charged with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused breached her curfew last evening. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

UPDATE: Three Youths Charged for West End Barn Fire

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service and Fire Services were called to a barn fire last evening at 8:27 pm on Allen Side Road. It is alleged that three male youths, ages 12, 13 and 15 entered a barn on the property of 202 Allen Side Road around 8:20 pm and shortly after, lit the barn on fire. A witness that observed the youths running out of the barn, apprehended them and held them until the police arrived. All three males have been charged with one count of arson – damage to property of others. There were no injuries reported. All three youths are to appear in court on the 2nd of October. Information from Sault Ste Marie Fire Services is that the barn contained approximately 650 bails of hay and an antique tractor inside. The barn and all the contents were completely burned.


Female Charged with Assault

A 48 year-old female was arrested on the 28th of August at 7:47 pm at her downtown residence and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused, while at her downtown residence threw a soap dispenser at her common-law husband’s head. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused is to appear in court on the 3rd of October.

Failing to Appear

A 14 year-old male youth was arrested at the Court House on Queen Street East yesterday afternoon on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of failing to appear for fingerprints from the 14th of August. He is to appear in court on the 2nd of October.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) A residence in the 300 block of Goulais Avenue was entered sometime between 9 pm on the 27th of August to 8 am on the 28th. A soft tub and a box of lights were reported stolen.

2) A residence on Cottage Lane was entered sometime between 10 pm on the 26th of August to 10 am on the 28th of August. It is not known if anything was taken.
